Hello Parents and Guardians:
I hope your child enjoyed his/her summer and is looking forward to beginning a new school year tomorrow morning. I will assure you that all of us working for the West Fork School District are excited about beginning a new year and are determined to get off to a great and safe start.

Having said that, tomorrow morning between 7:15 and 8:00, we’ll have approximately 1,000 students and employees arriving on our campus, which means there will be a lot of buses and car traffic in addition to students walking or riding their bikes to school. As you bring your child to school, I am asking you to arrive early, be patient, and be extra observant, because any tiny distraction could result in an accident. Dropoffs and pickups of students by their parents will be the same way we finished last school year. I also want to remind you that the road that runs in front of the middle school is one-way in the mornings.

To help ensure your child’s safety, we ask that your child always exits your vehicle from the passenger side door and goes directly to their assigned location. Each building will have monitors outside at our student drop-off locations to assist as needed, but not before 7:15. I also want to remind you that it is illegal to talk or text on your cell phone while in a school zone and it is also illegal to pass a stopped school bus when its flashing red lights are on.

In closing, I want you to know that all of us here at the West Fork School District are expecting a safe and productive 23-24 school year, but it will take all of us working together to make this expectation become a reality, and I know we can do it! If I can ever be of assistance, please don’t hesitate to ask.

John Karnes, Superintendent
