  • 1st Grade will learn about the skill of self-control.
  • 2nd grade’s topic will be learning the importance of including others.
  • 3rd grade will think about important ingredients to friendship. They have to put in the right ingredients to have good friendships!
  • 4th grade will begin a two part lesson on the importance of respect.

Extend your child’s learning at home by discussing these important topics!

Friendship Issues

Spring time at school can sometimes bring conflicts among friends and classmates.Read this article from Big Life Journal. It’s a great resource that provides talking points for parents as your help your child navigate issues. This link provides information for you to learn ways you can coach your child to deal with various types of friends.

Additionally, part of solving conflicts is taking responsibility for our own part of the problem.Rather than blame others, children need to learnthe idea of accountability. This link provides a guide that will help you teach your child this important skill.

Navigating relationships can be tough, but can lead to healthy, lifelong friendships for your child.

School will be in Session this Friday, February 16th to Make Up a Lost Instructional Day

Parent & Guardians:

I wanted to send out a quick reminder that based on our newly revised school calendar that was approved last week by the school board, our students will need to attend school this Friday, February 16th. This day will serve as one of our eight (8) make-up days. On the other hand, our students will be out of school on the following Monday, February 19th for President’s Day. After missing school yesterday, the district will now extend its 30-minute bell schedule through Monday, April 22nd and our new last day of school will be Tuesday, May 28th.

Thank you,

John Karnes, Superintendent

Snow Day – Monday, February 12th

Parents,  Guardians, & School Employees:
Well, I have another tough call to make.  It’s starting to snow, but they are saying that it’s supposed to snow all morning and into the early afternoon. The meteorologists are still saying that we’ll get 3-7 inches before this moves out and I’m concerned about the harder snow hitting us while our buses are out picking up kids and our employees are commuting. Additionally, if it does snow that much, we may have trouble getting kids home. For these reasons and to err on the side of safety, I have decided to make today a snow day. Repeating, West Fork Schools will be closed today for instruction.

Be safe and thank you for your support.
