Classroom Guidance

One part of the counseling program is classroom guidance. The counselor visits classrooms on a rotating basis for approximately 30 minutes. During this time, various topics are addressed including bully prevention, and many other social-emotional skills. While a variety of resources are utilized, the foundation for the classroom guidance program is The Committee for Children’s Second Step Program. This is a research-based program that is developmentally appropriate for middle school students. It consists of video’s, group activities, and role-playing of skills to be acquired.

Individual Small Group Counseling

Another component of the counseling program is individual and small group counseling. Students may request counseling to discuss issues as they arise. Teachers may also refer students for counseling as they identify needs throughout the school year. Parents may request counseling services by calling the counselor to discuss needs. If you would like to request counseling for a West Fork Middle School student, you may also use this link. I will follow up as soon as possible. Issues discussed in counseling sessions are confidential, with limits regarding safety concerns.
